Dr Vimala Balakrishnan

Dr Vimala Balakrishnan is an Associate Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya, Malaysia. Full CV

Her research interests include Data Science and Analytics, particularly social media, sentiment analysis and natural language processing. As a Data Scientist, Dr. Balakrishnan works passionately on social issues at the national level, particularly cyberbullying, for which she has been sought after by the media such as The Business Radio Station (BFM), The Star and Media Round-Table. Media

An active international research collaborator, avid reader and hiker, she also serves as Associate Editor of the Malaysian Journal of Computer Science, a Leaders in Innovation Fellow, Royal Academy of Engineering, UK, and a Fulbright Research Scholar, USA. She was also named as one of the Top 2% World Scientist 2020 by the Stanford University.
